Course Description

Our STCW 2010 training package is a comprehensive course that is perfect for students wanting to learn and understand all of the necessary safety protocols and procedures that are involved when working as part of a superyacht crew. The course includes everything from outlining the importance of practicing the latest and best safety measures, as well as the proper procedures and precautions that you should observe at all times while working on board any vessel.

The course offered at our internationally accredited maritime academy will provide you with all the information that you need to get your MCA certification within a 5½ day time frame. Everything that you need to succeed in your training is included in the cost of the program. We have 5 star accommodation and will prepare all your meals so you can focus completely on learning everything you need for your new career.

Your training and certification will be at the highest level backed by the International Maritime Organization and their  standards of training. On completion you will be certified to work on board a cruise ship of any size and have the skills in line with the highest standards available.

In order to ensure the safety of passengers and everyone on board super yachts all over the world, there is legislation that requires all crew members hold a valid STCW certificate before setting sail.

As the only training facility in all of Asia that is accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency you’ll be in great hands doing your STCW course at Maritime Education Services and our team of world class instructors will make sure you succeed in your studies as well as providing you with opportunities to work on some of the most beautiful vessels on the ocean.

It is important to remember that you will need to attend an STCW refresher course at least once every 5 years in order to keep your skills and knowledge of the best safety practices to use while working on  board a superyacht. Regardless of your position, you will need to complete this training on a regular basis.

TOPICS THAT YOU’LL COVER

BASIC FIRST AID (EFA)

This module will help you learn how to deal with different types of emergencies on board even with limited equipment as well as learning CPR, bandaging and how to transport an affected person.

PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES

With theory and practice classes, you will learn how to protect yourself in emergency situations including practical training using life jackets and inflatable life rafts.

PERSONAL SAFETY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

This module is classroom based covering basic induction training in safety procedures and accident prevention, getting student familiarized with employment and working conditions on board.

STCW 2010 MCA certificate for Superyacht and offshore workers

FIRE FIGHTING TACTICS

Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting will be at the core of this module. Teaching you how to reduce the risks of fires on board, fire fighting practice and rescue.

PROFICIENCY IN SECURITY AWARENESS

Providing knowledge and understanding to crew members which won’t have any security responsibilities.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED

Your flight tickets to and from Phuket aren’t included in this course and must be paid by you once you have received confirmation of course booking.

Things to Bring

Please ensure to bring the following items to your course:

  • Copy of front page of your passport
  • Laptop with 8GB USB flash drive or pens and paper notebook.
  • Clothes – Two or three shorts (beige / white); flat soft shoes (beige / black / white); flip flops; swimming suit; sunglasses & outfits for evening occasions.
  • Toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste, soap & shaver.
  • Medical kit if you require any special medication.
