STCW Refresher Course Description

The STCW 2010 Refresher Course for Superyacht Crews offered here at Maritime Education Services is a required credential that every individual working as part of a superyacht crew must renew a minimum of every 5 years.

The purpose of this is to ensure that each and every member of a crew is aware of all of the proper safety measures, procedures and protocols that need to be in place in order to ensure that utmost safety is observed on any maritime vessel.

Safety should always be considered to be the top most priority of any maritime crew, which is why the MCA imposes this requirement of crew members to renew their safety certification every 5 years at a minimum.

This refresher course that we offer is an abbreviated version of our standard Basic Safety Training Course for Superyacht Crews. A 1½ day course rather than a 5½ day one, this course is a much faster as the students will have already undergone the original course at one point or another. This mandatory course for seafarers every 5 years after their initial training course adheres to all of the required standards and requirements imposed by the MCA.

You can rest assured that, in taking this course, you are fulfilling your requirement to keep your safety knowledge up to date. The Refresher Course is specifically designed to meet all of the requirements listed of the STCW familiarisation and basic safety training update in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW code.

As the Maritime Education Services is accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, or the MCA, of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Certificates, you can rest assured that this is the course that will fulfill all of your requirements.

With expert instructors and a speedy course, our main goal is to cover the important points of safety so you can ensure that you are doing everything properly while on board, and are practicing methods that keep safety in mind, and then get you back to doing what you do best as quickly as possible.

The purpose of this course is to ensure that safety is always of utmost priority to everyone on board while you are part of the superyacht crew. It is important to know how to react in cases of emergency, as well as to be aware of how to avoid such emergency situations in the first place.
